weird...

So today I went to Nashville to attend a design event called Think Tank. I learned a lot!!! AND the food was yummy! So we were listening to this man (Mike Janda) speak about the "nuggets" of how he runs his creative team and rules which they live by basically. It was the craziest thing...he was talking about that the things that we do in life...the things that we do or create is based on 85% people relationships and 15% technical skill. I thought it was strange that I had just referenced a quote involving something being broken down into percentages. (if you read my last blog you will understand what I am talking about)...BUT what made it even more weird is that he ended his lecture with his last wisdom nugget...which he stated "It's always about pressure"...and then referred back to the diamond being made under pressure. I was officially freaked out. I think this man read my blog before he made his presentation. (okay, not really)...but what are the chances of choosing two quotes out of the millions of quotes out there and then hearing it referenced the next day??
Maybe it's a sign...
for what I have no clue.

I met Seymour Chwast...for those of you that don't know...he's a big freakin designer deal.
He is the husband to one of my greatest design heros Paula Scher, this is a piece Paula did for a ballet school in New York. I hope for my work to be as awesome as hers one day. No offense to Seymour, but he needs to bring his wife next time he decides to come to Nashville. He still Rocks though.

So...those were the highlights of my day.
I have turned into a addict of design. I will prob need rehab soon.
I'm sorry to bore you with my designer talk...
at least you will know just a tad bit more about me now if nothing else.

Okay...

aside from all of that...it's blockbuster night...
I got three movies...
Married Life
The Art of Travel
and Adrift in Manhattan

I have only watched Married Life so far. Ashley...You will LOVE this movie. It's set in the 40's. Whitney...you will love it too because it has Rachel McAdams (the girl from The Notebook) in it. Go rent it!!!!
watch the movie trailer

Oh yes...I know what I am naming my first son...
Xander...
you may not agree...but I think it's precious!!!

tis true...

:When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure: PM

:The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.: CS

six feet under...

So I've been wanting to share this with you for a while. I just found a minute to take a break from school work so here we go. This is one of the greatest openings I have ever seen. Barry (my advanced digital imaging teacher) showed this the first day of class. We were all VERY intimidated after we saw it. I actually thought about dropping the class. We watched it two more times and how it was made. It's just amazing. All of the movement is so precisely on key with the music. The music itself it amazing. And how all of the type interacts with everything left me in awe. I am so glad Barry showed us this. Sorry if the song is stuck in your head for a while. I walked around all day saying "duna da dan dun". Hope you appreciate great things like this as much as I do.

hello again...

went to the lake for labor day. We had a great time. Lots of boats out this weekend. I stayed on the boat one day because there are always BIG fish that jump around at Lick Creek (the cove we went to one day) the boat started drifting and I got to be skipper of my own vessel. I took it around in a circle once and acted like I knew what I was doing. (I mean I did and all, but this was just a little joy circle). Anyways...Pa said I did a wonderful job. I was proud of my efforts...and you should be too. School has started back...It's going to be a tough one. I am going to be busy busy busy little thing!!! New teachers=insanity. They make me very very le tired!!!!
